Vail Law Secures $3.3 Million Net Settlement in Minority Shareholder Oppression Case
Updated: Aug 22, 2020
We're very comfortable in David vs. Goliath situations. Here, our client was the minority partner in a development of 83 multi-million dollar homes and a hotel in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and another development on the shores of Lake Travis, Texas. When the majority owner - a billionaire family group out of Oklahoma City and Mexico City - wanted to cut costs, they simply forced him out of the projects, expecting their Am Law 100 law firms to fix the problem.
Vail Law pursued our client's claims in state and federal courts in Colorado (Routt County) and Texas (Travis County, Harris County, and the Southern District of Texas), including claims for breach of fiduciary duty, minority oppression, and claims to pierce various asset protection trusts, ultimately achieving a multi-million dollar settlement.
Jeff Vail is the founder of Vail Law LLC in Greenwood Village, Colorado.
